Grotesque Face.

Taken from the medieval carvings C. 1450 found upon the Misericords within the choir stalls of Cartmel Priory. This carving known as Grotesque Face shows the face of a beast but what beast is uncertain. It seems to be a lion or possibly that of a Bat; the carving portrays the beast with greatly over exaggerated features. This reproduction is taken directly from the original capturing all the fine detail applied by the craftsmen that carved this piece over 500 years ago. Comes with a wall fixing and product label.

This is a cast reproduction produced from a mould taken directly from the original carving found within Cartmel Priory in the Lake District, England. We have exclusive permission to take moulds from original carvings from within the Cathedrals & Abbeys of Britain and to then reproduce these for sale. These reproductions are cast from a resin composite and then stained to give the product all the fine detail, feel and authenticity of the original carving.
